Nach der Ölfarbenserie in einzigartiger Sortierung folgen die Old Holland Classic Watercolours mit demselben reichhaltigen Sortiment. Eine der besonderen Eigenschaften dieser Aquarellfarben ist die unübertroffene Farbkraft (größtmögliche Pigmentgehalt). Diese hohe Farbkraft verlangt von dem Aquarellisten zwar eine kleine Anpassung (Sie werden sich erst an das Verhältnis Farbe/Verdünnungsmittel gewöhnen müssen, da für den erwünschten Farbeffekt nur sehr wenig Farbe aus der Tube oder dem Näpfchen benötigt wird), die Vorteile liegen jedoch auf der Hand. Es ist bekannt, dass manche Pigmente in der Aquarellfarbe besondere Eigenschaften besitzen: Granulierung (Körnung): die Pigmentteilchen setzen sich auf dem Papier als fleckiger Farbton ab, z. B. bei Manganblau, Ultramarinblau dunkel und Sienna natur. Flockung: Pigmentteilchen ziehen sich gegenseitig an, was denselben Effekt bewirkt wie die Granulierung; Beispiele: Viridiangrün hell und dunkel, Grüne Erde und Umbra natur. In der Aquarellfarbenserie finden Sie deckende, halbtransparente und hochtransparente Farben (letztere mit dem Zusatz "lake" im Namen). Die Etiketten auf den Tuben und Näpfchen mit Aquarellfarbe zeigen nicht den jeweiligen Vollton, sondern eine Aufhellung (eine logische Wahl angesichts der Aquarellmaltechnik). Die Farben auf den Etiketten sind in dieser Aufhellung in einem speziellen Siebdruck mit der betreffenden Aquarellfarbe aufgedruckt.

Old Holland ist nicht ohne Grund eine meiner Lieblingsaquarellfarbenmarken, jedoch zahlt es sich aus sich vor dem Kauf im Internet über die Pigmente zu informieren, wenn man keine deckenden Farben möchte sollte man jegliche Farben, die mit PW Pigmenten (weißen Pigmenten) gemischt sind, vermeiden. Das Sortiment von Old Holland hat aber sehr viele Farben, die monopigmentiert sind, teils mit sehr seltenen Pigmenten, man findet alles von transparent bis deckend und granulierend.
